2023-2024 HBSU Exec Elections
Elections for the Human Biology Students’ Union 2023/24 open soon! Candidates who are interested in running are required to fill out the form below BY APRIL 6TH @ 11:59PM EST. Only students pursuing an HMB Specialist or Major will be eligible to run.
Application Due: April 6th at 11:59 PM.
Voting Period: April 7th to April 8th at 11:59 PM, virtually.
Night in Vegas Formal
The Human Biology Students' Union is excited to announce our annual formal! This year, our theme is "NIGHT IN VEGAS"!
Come out with your friends to the BIGGEST LIFE-SCI FORMAL of the year to enjoy tons of food, drinks, desserts, and music. Admission comes with drink tickets, food and desserts, non-alcoholic drinks, and coat check. Tickets are $20 per person and they are first come first served, so BUY YOURS NOW! The ticket sale ends Apr 3rd at 11:59pm ET.
Ontario Medical School Symposium
Interested in pursuing a career in medicine? Do you want to hear about admission requirements from various Ontario medical school representatives? The Human Biology Students' Union is hosting their annual Ontario Medical School Symposium (OMSS)! Come on out to learn more about the application process, taking the MCAT, admission requirements, and more!
HMB and Beyond
Wondering where your Human Biology degree can take you? Join us on February 16th, 2023 from 5 to 7 pm at SS1069 for HMB and Beyond! An event showcasing some HMB and Life Sciences Alumni speak on behalf of their experiences transitioning between graduation, research, working, or their graduate degree! They will be giving a short presentation of their journey following graduation and their own career development. This is a great opportunity to network and ask questions!
Road to Research
Interested in getting a research opportunity but don't know where to get started? Come to Road to Research! This event will be a 1.5-hour event covering topics such as UofT/Toronto research opportunities, tips on landing a research position, how to “cold” email, and the research application process from both the professor and the student perspectives. At the end, we'll be sharing a link to a 6 page document we've compiled on research opportunities in Toronto & abroad, research funding/grants, and research case competitions!

Art of Science Coffee House
Oftentimes, being in university means forgetting about your hobbies and not having enough time to practice what you love. With that being said, this event is aimed at showcasing the various talents (dancing, singing, painting, photography, etc.) that students in the STEM field rarely get to demonstrate and to re-emphasize the importance of maintaining these interests as an active aspect of our lives.

Come join us for a workshop centred around venture creation in biotech, led by Lamisa Mizan, PhD Candidate at UofT and Fellow at Amplitude!
Come join us on Nov 29, 5-7pm ET for a workshop with Lamisa Mizan, PhD Candidate at the Univeristy of Toronto and Fellow at Amplitude Ventures. You'll learn about the different career opportunities in biotech and the ins and outs of venture creation, followed by a workshop where you'll gain skills and learn how to turn a series of hypotheses into a profitable technology.
International Medical School Symposium (IMSS)
Interested in pursuing medical school abroad? This is the perfect opportunity to learn more about going abroad and coming back for residency! At this event, you'll have the opportunity to meet representatives from different international medical schools, learn what their admissions process is like, and hear about the process of coming back to do residency.

Translational Research and Medicine (TRaM)
Are you interested in learning more about how researchers and clinicians bring new research from the bench to bedside?
Join us on Friday, Nov. 4th at SS1087 from 3-5 pm for an academic talk! You will be able to hear from professors working in translational research and medicine, and have the opportunity to ask them about their work.
Halloween Social
Tired of midterms? Come join the HBSU and NSSA for a Halloween-themed trivia/pub night with free food and 1 drink ticket per guest! First come, first serve, so be sure to sign up early with the link in our bio and bring your friends!
